Friends

Sunday, December 28, 2008

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friend tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives." He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes. We hung all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him. And my friends thought the same of him.

Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Damn boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!" He just laughed and handed me half the books. Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. When we were seniors, we began to think about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship. Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak.

Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than me and all the girls loved him! Boy, sometimes I was jealous. Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. "Thanks," he said. As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began.

"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach... but mostly your friends. I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story." I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. "Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."

I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize it's depth. Never underestimate the power of your actions.

With one small gesture you can change a person's life.

Footprints

Thursday, December 25, 2008

One night a man had a dream. He dreamt he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints on the sand -- one belonging to him and the other to the Lord. When the last scene had flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints and he noticed only one set. He also noticed that this happened during the lowest and saddest times of his life. This bothered him and he questioned the Lord. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk all the way with me, but I noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed you most, you deserted me."

The Lord replied, "My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, those were the times when I carried you in my arms."

Beautiful Dreamer

Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me,
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd away!

Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng.

Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea,
Mermaids are chaunting the wild lorelie;
Over the streamlet vapors are borne,
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn.

Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart,
E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart,

A man leaves all kinds of footprints when he walks through life. Some you can see, like this children and his house. Other are invisible, like prints he leaves across other people’s lives, the help he gives them and what he has said, his jokes, gossip that has hurt other, encouragement.
A man doesn’t think about it, but everywhere he passes, he leaves some kind of mark. All these munbeck arks added together are what man means.

Final Separation

Death is that final separation from all we have worked for, all that we have built up,
all that is near and dear to us.
It is too bad that dying is the last thing we do. Because it could teach us so much about living.

When they sleep...

Friday, October 31, 2008

Once gazed at the closest person when sleeping.......
If not yet, tried just once to gaze at them when sleeping.

At that time that appeared to be the expression was most natural and most honest from someone.
An artist that when in the stage was so pretty And glamour then could be still appearing plain and far different if she was sleeping. The person was cruellest in the world then if he has slept will not appear his cruel face.

Pay attention to your father when he was sleeping. Realised, how the body that previously solid and strong that is currently increasingly old and frail, how did white hairs begin to illustrate his head, how wrinkles began to be carved on his face. This person that daily worked hard for our welfare, his children. This person that real carried out any from our stomach was full And our education ran smoothly.

Now, changed. See your mother you. His skin began to be wrinkled And the hands that previously soft caressed- caresses the baby's body us, currently rough because forging lived that was hard. This person that daily arranged our requirement. This person that was most hard-working warned And complained to us only because of compassion And love, And unfortunately, that often we were wrong interpreted.

Please gaze at the face of the beloved people... The father, Ms, the Husband, the Wife, the Older Brother, the Brother, the Child, the Friend, All Of Them...

Feel the sensation that emerged afterwards. Feel love energy that flowed to be slow when gazing at the face that is fallen aslip. Feel the love vibration that flowed to be swift when considering really many sacrifices that were carried out by the people for your happiness.

The sacrifice that sometimes was covered by the small misunderstanding that whether why always visible big. Miraculously the Lord arranged so that the sacrifice could appear still through their honest faces when sleeping. The sacrifice that sometimes tired but was reluctant to be revealed by them. And the face expression when sleep then expressed all of them.

Without words, without the voice he said... "How tired is me Today". And the tired cause? For who he tired ? Actually was us. The husband who worked hard to seek a living, the wife who worked hard to arrange And educate the child, arranged the house. The older brother, the brother, the child, And the friend that passed days liked And the sorrow with us.

Think about sweet and bitter memories that had happened by gazing at their faces. Felt how the happiness And feeling instantly went out if remembering all that.

Imagine what will happen if tomorrow their Day "the dearest people" still do not open his eyes, forever...

Imagine what will happen if tomorrow they "the dearest people" still do not open Their eyes, forever...

Making Poetry Writing Fun and Easy

Making Poetry Writing Fun and Easy
Poetry is a an art form that has been used for centuries to express ideas and feelings in ways that other forms of custom writing are not able to. Some may argue that the days of meaningful and important poetry are gone, but there are still millions of amateur poets out there attempting to express themselves through the rhythm of beautiful words. If you happen to fall into this category, or you are a student who is required to produce poetry in English class, these tips can help make the experience much more enjoyable.

Identify the Form of Your Poetry
There are numerous forms of poetry to choose from, each with their own rules and regulations of usage. From the haiku to the sonnet to free verse, each particular form of poetry has its own merits. While some forms of poetry are more popular than others, do not be influenced by the choices of other poets when choosing the form of poetry you wish to express yourself with. Once you have chosen your particular form, familiarize yourself with its form and rules before attempting to write. This will take the guesswork from your poetry before you ever begin writing.

Identify a Role Model
Choose a poet that writes in your chosen form to get an idea of how he or she uses certain words or phrases to elicit responses. By reading and absorbing as much as your role models material as possible, you will be better able to produce material of your own. However, it is very important that you develop your own individual style of poetry - do not simply reproduce your role model's writing style.

Identify Your Inspiration
This may seem an obvious step, but many would-be poets end up staring at a blank page for hours because of a lack of inspiration. Before those beautiful words will ever spring forth from your mind, you must identify a source of inspiration that will generate those words. For some it may be nature, for others it may be love, for still others it may be the pain of losing someone important to you. Regardless, identify that inspiration and focus on it - you'll be surprised how quickly the words will appear once you have done so.

Identify Your Mood
Nearly all poetry is designed to express one's feelings or emotions toward a particular subject. As described above, the poet will identify her subject, but she then must decide her mood toward that particular topic. For example, there are many different moods that can be evoked toward the topic of love. Some may express the intense euphoria experienced toward the beginning of a romantic relationship, while others may choose to express the feelings of safety and familiarity from a love that has lasted for decades. Identifying the mood of your poem will help you to decide which particular words will describe the mood you are attempting to express.

Seek Feedback
While there may be some talented poets out there who are able to produce masterpieces on their very first attempts without a single re-write, most poets need to make changes to their poetry to improve their first drafts. To help with this process, it is permissible to seek feedback from individual that you allow to read your early work. Get as much feedback as possible before attempting any re-writes, to allow for as clear a picture as possible as to what images your words evoke. Once you have an idea of how the outside world is interpreting your poetry, you will know what steps to take to make sure they are interpreting it in the way you intended.

History of poetry

Poetry as an art form that may have predated literacy. Some of the earliest poetry is believed to have been orally recited or sung. Following the development of writing, poetry has since developed into increasingly structured forms, though much poetry since the late 19th century has moved away from traditional forms towards the more vaguely defined free verse and prose poem formats.

Poetry was employed as a way of remembering oral history, story (epic poetry), genealogy, and law. Poetry is often closely related to musical traditions, and much of it can be attributed to religious movements. Many of the poems surviving from the ancient world are a form of recorded cultural information about the people of the past, and their poems are prayers or stories about religious subject matter, histories about their politics and wars, and the important organizing myths of their societies.

Poetry as an art form may predate literacy[1] Thus many ancient works, from the Vedas (1700 - 1200 BC) to the Odyssey (800 - 675 BC), appear to have been composed in poetic form to aid memorization and oral transmission, in prehistoric and ancient societies[2]. Poetry appears among the earliest records of most literate cultures, with poetic fragments found on early monoliths, runestones and stelae.

The oldest surviving poem is the Epic of Gilgamesh, from the 3rd millennium BC in Sumer (in Iraq/Mesopotamia), which was written in cuneiform script on clay tablets and, later, papyrus.[3] The Epic of Gilgamesh is based on the historical king Gilgamesh. The oldest love poem, found on a clay tablet now known as Istanbul #2461, was also a Sumerian poem. It was recited by a bride of the Sumerian king Shu-Sin, who ruled from 2037-2029 BC.[4] The oldest epic poetry besides the Epic of Gilgamesh are the Greek epics Iliad and Odyssey and the Indian Sanskrit epics Ramayana and Mahabharata. The longest epic poems ever written were the Mahabharata and the Tibetan Epic of King Gesar.

Ancient thinkers sought to determine what makes poetry distinctive as a form and what distinguishes good poetry from bad, resulting in the development of "poetics", or the study of the aesthetics of poetry. Some ancient societies, such as the Chinese through the Shi Jing, one of the Five Classics of Confucianism, developed canons of poetic works that had ritual as well as aesthetic importance. More recently, thinkers struggled to find a definition that could encompass formal differences as great as those between Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales and Matsuo Bashō's Oku no Hosomichi, as well as differences in context that span from the religious poetry of the Tanakh to love poetry to rap.

Context can be critical to poetics and to the development of poetic genres and forms. For example, poetry employed to record historical events in epics, such as Gilgamesh or Ferdowsi's Shahnameh,[5] will necessarily be lengthy and narrative, while poetry used for liturgical purposes in hymns, psalms, suras and hadiths is likely to have an inspirational tone, whereas elegies and tragedy are intended to invoke deep internal emotional responses. Other contexts include music such as Gregorian chants, formal or diplomatic speech,[6] political rhetoric and invective,[7] light-hearted nursery and nonsense rhymes, and even medical texts.[8]

The Polish historian of aesthetics, Władysław Tatarkiewicz, in a paper on "The Concept of Poetry," traces the evolution of what is in fact two concepts of poetry. Tatarkiewicz points out that the term is applied to two distinct things that, as the poet Paul Valéry observes, "at a certain point find union. Poetry [...] is an art based on language. But poetry also has a more general meaning [...] that is difficult to define because it is less determinate: poetry expresses a certain state of mind."

Money not anything

Money will buy a bed but not sleep; book but not brains; food but not appetite; finery but not beauty; a house but not a home; medicine but not health; luxuries but not culture; amusement but not happiness; religion but not salvation; a passport to everywhere but heaven.

Love is so powerfull

Love is so powerfull because being loved causesone to love oneself. Nothing contributes to the self-image more than being loved by another. When the words “I Love you” are expressed to you for first time, your world blossoms; your heart glows with inspiration, confidence and thoughts of the mountains you can move.
It’ more than an emotional kick; suddenly you like your self more than you ever have before

Do your best effort

As the old man walked the beach at dawn, he noticed a young man ahead of him picking up starfish and flinging them into the sea. Finally catching up with the youth, he asked him why he was doing this. This answer was that the stranded starfish would die if left until morning sun.
“But the beach goes on for miles and there are millions of starfish,” Countered the other. “How can your effort make any difference?”
The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and then threw it to safety in the waves.
“It makes a difference to this one” he said.
